Ramadhan Charity Day
Al Mazaya Islamic School believes strongly in embracing the spirit of generosity, showing compassion and supporting others. We pledge to deliver help for those in need of assistances. In the holy month of Ramadhan, a month full of blessings,
it’s an obligation for us to help the underprivileged, as The Prophet Mohammad (SAW) once said: “The believer’s shade on the day of resurrection will be his charity.” (Al-Tirmidhi). The act of charity during Ramadhan brings us closer to Allah and gain a deeper understanding of human suffering. It gives us a chance for reflection and piety.
Our students celebrated this blessed month by spreading care and love to those who are in need and less fortunate. One way that we do this is through holding “Ramadhan Charity Day”. We are incredibly grateful for all the donation given by Al Mazaya’s students and parents, for we were able to held Al Mazaya Ramadhan Charity Day on 10th and 11th of April 2023. The charity is organized by Al Mazaya Mumtaz Council, the donation was collected from 3rd of April until 9th of April 2023 and has raised over estimated amount of 11 million IDR.
The fund collected was distributed through giving food and beverages for Iftar on the 10th April 2023. Our students, both senior high schoolers and junior high schoolers, went out to the streets around the city center and passed out the food and beverages to the less fortunate. They also gave out non-financial social assistances to the less fortunate in the community, and inviting orphanage children for Iftar together at the school on the 11th April 2023.
“It is through actions like these that our students take on the challenge of improving the lives of others,” said Ms. Waheni, the principal of Al Mazaya Islamic Junior High School. “Improving the community, especially around the school, is highly encouraged in our school.”
The event ended with all students, invited orphanage children, teachers and staff break their fast together on the school ground on the 11th April 2023.
“This charity event offers an invaluable opportunity for reflection, service and community engagement to our students. Hopefully, they will take this as a great lesson and implement this practice even after they graduated.” said Ms. Siti Mardiah, the principal of Al Mazaya Islamic Senior High School.
